Welcome to the
Title of class sessions at the Community Performance & Art Center (CPAC)
in Green Valley, Arizona.
There will be a series of four weekly sessions during February 2025, which are scheduled for Monday mornings -- 9:30 AM - 11:30 PM in the Harry and Ann Paxton Gallery at CPAC.
After exposure to art classes or workshops, your art style may be largely influenced by the instructors you had. There are differences depending on where you received instruction. If you are older and wish to get back to your love of art, you may want to revisit what you like as far as creating your own focus of creating art, including your own style of which you take ownership. We all hope that folks recognize our art because they know our style and hopefully love it.
In this 4-week class, you will examine the work of several successful noted artists who established their own styles, which may have evolved because they were influenced by earlier artists. Paintings created by artists like Picasso, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Chagall, Kahlo and others will be studied and we shall be reproducing some of their paintings using soft pastels to minimize clean up at the end of each session. Hopefully by examining and recreating their styles, you will appreciate something each artist used, and possibly you may add one or more methods to your own painting style. As you experience these techniques, hopefully your own style will evolve into something you enjoy. Most styles evolve due to various influences, and yours might too.
